Innovation from necessity.

I record voiceovers for short-form video. Reels, Shorts, the occasional explainer. The hard part was never the writing. It was the reading.

A 40-second script that reads in 38 seconds is fine. The same script that runs over is unusable. The same script that races to 32 seconds and ends with awkward silence is worse. No tool shows you, while you are reading, where you actually are in the tempo.

So I built one for myself.

A small browser tool. You paste a script, set the duration, and a director sits in your peripheral vision while you read. Words highlight as you go. Pauses are timed. The phrases that need to land get more room.

The first version took an evening. I have used it for every voiceover I have recorded since. I was not planning to publish it. It was infrastructure for a personal hobby, the way some people build a kitchen rack.

Then I showed it to other creators. They asked if they could use it. One asked if I would build a version for their team. The conversation became commercial.

That sequence, pain to build to share to use to sell, only works when the original build is for yourself. The constraint of "what would actually help me record this take" filters out the ninety percent of features a market-shaped product would have spent six months adding.
